Question: Do teachers have special log-in accounts?
Answer
No, not at the moment.
There is just one user account: student.
Log in username: "student" and password "student".
Question: Do teachers have a special secure area to save files?
Answer
No, not at the moment.
You can use the shared files drive [called "shared on 'eflserver' (S:)"] which you can find in My Computer, but it is not secure. Anyone can delete these files.
If you want to save files securely, use a personal USB flash drive. If you need one of these, ask in the Main Office.
Question: For trouble-free computing lessons, what can I do?
Answer
Here's the easiest, quickest and most comprehensive solution:
Re-start all the computers at the beginning of the lesson!
Reason why:
The new setup uses a program called Drive Vaccine. Drive Vaccine has made a good 'clean' virus-free working image of the student computers, on the file server. It's like a snapshot photo of how they ought to be.
If you re-start the computers, all changes to the student computers made subsequent to this snapshot are deleted, and the good 'clean' virus-free working image of the computers is re-loaded.
This can cure problems with:
bad Internet/local network connection
dropped printer connection
programs crashing or behaving badly
spyware, Web page pop-ups and viruses
wrong Web homepage in Internet Explorer
