Beat the Clock is timed vocabulary game, where you have to guess words or phrases from definitions. It is fun.
The words are taken from a word store of thousands of different expressions. There are five classes of vocabulary:
- nouns
- verbs
- adjectives
- phrasal verbs & dependent prepositions
- idioms & collocations
You can choose from six levels of language ability:
- elementary
- low intermediate
- intermediate
- upper intermediate
- advanced
Beat the Clock is an authorable resource which has been designed to be easy to add to, either with more words and phrases under the existing word classes, or with entirely new lexical sets, geared specifically to your ownclasses. Even the most inexperienced computer user can have a new lexical set ready for use within ten minutes.

Headphones/microphone needed?
- No (but if you use headphones/speakers, it's more fun and exciting, because you can hear the clock sound!)
